Im Februar 2019 nahmen wir ein Auto für 3 Tage für eine Reise von Tiflis in die Berge, wir wählten RAV4. Wir haben das Auto im Voraus über LocalCarHires.com gebucht. Das Büro befindet sich im Zentrum von Tiflis, leicht zu finden. Die Abholung dauerte nicht länger als 10 Minuten, das Personal ist aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Auto entspricht vollständig den Fotos und der Beschreibung auf der Website. Während der Fahrt gab es keine Schwierigkeiten mit dem Auto. Wir sind drei Mädchen, zwei von uns haben 10 Jahre Fahrpraxis. Aber eine hatte einen internationalen Führerschein aus Dubai, der für Georgien nicht geeignet war. Also bin ich mit meinem russischen Führerschein gefahren. Wir nahmen ein Auto für einen dreitägigen Ausflug nach Kazbeki und Gudauri in die Berge. Wir bestellten einen Subaru Forester, aber wir wurden durch einen Mitsubishi Outlander ersetzt, weil sie sagten, das sei im Moment die beste Option. Die Option auf 3*: das Einspritzersymbol brannte ständig, die Federung klapperte, nach einer Stunde Fahrt leuchtete die Ausrufezeichen-Glühbirne auf. Der Vermieter antwortete auf all diese Beschwerden, dass es gut zu fahren sei - nicht gefährlich. Konnte CarPlay nicht verbinden, hörte unterwegs Lokalradio. Das Radio wurde nachts angelassen und die Batterie war leer, Nachbarn haben uns geholfen, wir haben das Auto mit Starthilfe gestartet. Ich möchte auf 5* Feedback von dem Vermieter des Autos zu beachten, war ständig am Telefon, innerhalb von 5 Minuten beantwortet, kommunizierten wir durch Sprachnachrichten und Anrufe. Im Voraus wurde der Mietvertrag in englischer Sprache gesendet, unterzeichnet online, Foto-Video des Autos warf in Boten vor der Reise und nach, wie in Carsharing. Strafen werden bei der Übergabe des Autos sofort überprüft. Im Allgemeinen sind wir mit der Reise zufrieden, ich empfehle die Autovermietung, aber seien Sie vorsichtig bei der Auswahl eines Autos.

Die wichtigste Person war OK in Bezug auf die Persönlichkeit und Reaktion. Allerdings bat ich um das Auto wegen der Größe nicht passend Gepäcke zu ändern. Sie gaben mir ein anderes Auto, aber hat einige Bremse Problem. Ich bat darum, ein Deckennetz auf das erste Auto zu setzen, um das Problem zu lösen. Sie sagten, das ginge nicht, also bot er mir einen Fahrer für einen vereinbarten Betrag an, der niedriger sein sollte, sonst sähe es nach einem anderen Geschäft aus. Wie auch immer, ich bin gezwungen, den Fahrer zu nehmen. Das ist in Ordnung. Das Schlimmste ist, dass der Fahrer abgesehen von diesem vereinbarten Betrag in Restaurants ging und Essen bestellte, ohne uns zu informieren, dann bat er das Restaurant, mir ohne mein Wissen eine Rechnung zu stellen, und ich fand die Rechnungen hoch, und so entdeckte ich es und fragte ein Restaurant, das diese Gewohnheit bestätigte. Das hat mich sehr geärgert. Ansonsten war aber alles in Ordnung. Der Fahrer hat eine gute Tour für uns gemacht und die Sehenswürdigkeiten leicht zu sehen.

What you should know before driving
🅿️ Download the parking app before you drive in Tbilisi. You'll get fined or towed if you don't pay through the app. One renter couldn't figure it out — his owner drove over and sorted the tickets himself.
📸 Watch out for speed cameras. They're everywhere on main highways, and fines are issued automatically. Andrej 🇨🇿 picked up two fines in 16 days — one for an illegal turn (20 GEL) and one for speeding (50 GEL). You may not even know until you return the car.
🛞 Check your tires before you leave. This is the most common issue in winter. Mismatched tires, worn tread, bald rubber on mountain roads — it all comes up. If you're heading to Mestia or Gudauri, inspect the tires at pickup and ask the owner to swap them if needed.
📍 Download offline maps. Google Maps and Maps.me don't always work well in Georgia — wrong pins, missing roads. Save your route offline and confirm the pickup point with your owner on WhatsApp before you land.
🚗 Pick the right car for your route. Going to Tusheti? You need a real 4x4 with low range — a Subaru won't cut it. Staying on highways between Tbilisi and Batumi? A Prius will save you a fortune on fuel. Heading to Svaneti on gravel roads? They're brutal, but a proper 4x4 handles them fine.

Driving basics
Georgia drives on the right. Speed limits: 60 km/h in cities, 90 km/h on open roads, 110 km/h on highways. Blood alcohol limit is 0.03% — effectively zero tolerance.
Main roads between major cities are in good condition. Mountain roads (Gudauri, Mestia, Stepantsminda) are paved but narrow with sharp turns — keep headlights on. Winter tires are mandatory on mountain passes from December 1 through March 1.

Paid parking operates in Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi through city parking apps. Everywhere else, parking is free.
